TheLoop21.com has re-launched with a new look and new features. The re-designed homepage offers greater interactivity, a streamlined look and better access to multimedia content. The timing is significant as rumors swirl of financial difficulties at other publications targeting African-Americans such as Ebony and Vibe.com. This is the first major re-design of TheLoop21.com since its launch in August 2008.
"We strive to have a user experience that is above all informative but also easy to navigate and aesthetically appealing. The new design strikes a wonderful balance between visual appeal, content organization and user convenience," says publisher Darrell Williams, who is an economist.
TheLoop21.com stands apart from the many lifestyle and entertainment publications in that it is devoted to African-American progress and economic self-empowerment for all people. Its content speaks to a wide range of policies, politics, and economic conditions that affect the economic well-being of people of color.
The redesign was lead by Liz Burr, who recently joined TheLoop21.com as New Media Producer and Technical Director. Burr explains their design goals: "TheLoop21.com has a great deal of new, original content each day. Our goal with the re-design was to streamline the user interface in order to put more of that great content at the fingertips of our audience. At the same time, we needed to give greater exposure to our video and other multimedia content that was not prominently displayed in the old design. This re-design accomplishes these goals and even more improvements are in the works."
Williams added that, "The re-design coincides with some exciting new additions to our editorial staff. So our users can expect even more insightful information along with the new look."
