When choosing winter clothing there are many factors to consider. Bad weather affects visibility and the days are darker for longer so bikers should wear reflective clothing to help them be seen by other motorists, and reflective tape can also increase night time visibility when placed on the bike or crash helmet.
When worn for the first time, thicker gloves will create a feeling of less control over a bike and may take some getting used to. Waterproofs and textile jackets worn over leathers should be bought a size larger than normal to create room to move on a motorbike.
Wet and cold weather is not only an uncomfortable biking experience, but also increases the risk of hypothermia. Heated gloves, socks and waterproof clothing is recommended to retain heat and provide protection at the same time.
With CE approved body armour now common in most suits and accessories, there is no excuse for bikers to not stay protected.
