I love music and I love people…we need real roll models again, because the old guys are disappearing and it doesn't look like they're coming back..

The legendary Rick Finch, nine-time nominee and winner of seven Grammy awards, 14 BMI songwriter/arranger awards, producer, musician, songwriter and co-founder of KC and the Sunshine Band, continues to spread sunshine in the best way he knows how - through music.
At the tender age of 15, Rick began his incredible journey at Tone Distributors, eventually finding his home at the small recording studio operating inside of Tone, TK Records, where his always-sunny disposition earned him the nickname of "Sunshine." Producing over 120 45 RPM records before age 17, Rick is no stranger to all phases of putting out a quality product.
In 1976, KC & the Sunshine Band was formed, and Rick's extraordinary ability to create a unique sound (a mixture of R&B, Disco and Latin percussion), produced 15 hit songs before Rick's departure from the group in 1981.
Today, Rick is the owner of Rick Finch Productions, http://www.rickfinch.com , an independent music production and artist development company that creates movie soundtracks, commercials and quality CD's… and mentors the next generation of music stars.
You would think that the successes of the past would be enough - but Rick Finch is just getting started, and with the same big heart and youthful enthusiasm he had when he first started out in the recording industry. A successful businessman, an award-winning songwriter and arranger and a legend in his own time, he continues to bring out the "sunshine" so desperately needed in today's world. With his latest CD release, "For All Reasons," Rick Finch hits a new standard and sets the bar very high for everyone else trying to succeed in the music industry today.
"For All Reasons," is an 11 song CD featuring new artists who Rick is mentoring. Rick is working overtime to help these up-and-coming artists from all over the world get their music heard. One of those artists is 14-year-old Ohio native, Ethan Hutchinson (a very gifted singer and spiritual songwriter).
In an interview last Friday with 102.5 FM In Kansas City Mo. U.S.A , Rick emphasized, "The biggest problem we have, number one, the economy, number two, there are over 22 million people trying to make it in the music business…so how can you get viewed in this congestion?
"I love music and I love people…we need real roll models again, because the old guys are disappearing and it doesn't look like they're coming back.." Rick doesn't stop at just mentoring. In fact, this generous man has a tendency to reach out to others in the way he knows best - with music.
In a telephone interview with me, Rick stated, "Anything that helps someone is personal. I was hungry for a good cause. Fortunately, Debbie Stevens, an Awareness Campaigner for ovarian cancer, approached me. Ovarian cancer can affect anyone. I thought of my sister, for instance, or my mother. I want to stop this disease. I want to help and so, 50% of the sales from 'For All Reasons,' up until December 31, 2009, will go to the Go Research Fund for the research needed to develop a test for the early detection of ovarian cancer."
Rick doesn't need a band to spread sunshine. He's doing fine on his own.
