DBx GEOMATICS announced today that the Quebec Institute of Statistics (ISQ) has selected the CartoVista solution to publish interactive maps for its internal and external customers. CartoVista's innovative mapping technology is ideal for Quebec's official statistics database (Databank of Official Statistics on Québec - BDSO) - http://www.bdso.gouv.qc.ca. With its tight integration with Adobe Flex, CartoVista enables the development of creative dashboard statistical profile applications.

The BDSO is a unique directory of detailed online statistics put in place by the ISQ in collaboration with all the ministries and organizations that produce statistics in the province. The acquisition of CartoVista allows the ISQ to greatly improve its mapping applications while offering better support for the analysis needed by its internal and external users.

"We needed to adapt our statistical mapping product to the latest approaches, improve the interactivity and the possibilities offered to our different end-users. New software for publishing our statistics with interactive maps was required", said Ms. Valérie Barrette, coordinator of geographic information and spatial analysis at the ISQ. "The representation of data using maps adds a lot of value to our statistical products and our offering has to be adapted to the user's needs and today's technology offerings."

With its vector-based interface, CartoVista allows the dynamic display of interactive maps with a maximum of flexibility. With its open-ended architecture and its application programming interface (API), CartoVista offers ideal compatibility with existing information technology infrastructures at the ISQ. In particular, the Adobe Flex development environment facilitates the development of custom dashboard applications. This allows the ISQ to enrich their mapping applications with surrounding interactive charts and customized information windows.

"As a Quebec-based company, we are very happy to see the province official statistics displayed with CartoVista", said Dany Bouchard, President of DBx GEOMATICS inc. "This corporate contract happens as we are finalizing our complete CartoVista solution, integrating many user-friendly tools that help create next generation dashboard solutions. This is the beginning of a new step in the development of our business."

The new interactive mapping of the BDSO as well as the presentation of statistics with dashboards will be launched officially at the Geomatics 2009 conference (http://www.geomatique2009.com) in Montreal on October 21 and 22. Ms Valérie Barrette from the ISQ will unveil the new solution on Thursday October 22 at 16h00 in the Verdun room.

DBx GEOMATICS team will be available to meet with customers and showcase multiple CartoVista projects at kiosk #12, during all of the Geomatics 2009 exhibits.
