We understand that content management is always part of a bigger story

Percussion Software - a leading provider of web content management (WCM) systems for customers with diverse web infrastructures - has been chosen by the General Services Administration (GSA) to power the Office of Citizen Services and Communications' (OCSC), the U.S government's official web portal. The site is the first point of contact for citizens, businesses, nonprofits, government employees, and visitors seeking to learn what the United States government can do for them.

The OCSC needed a solution that would provide information about what content exists across millions of government web pages as well as combine and organize content to create value for visitors. will use Percussion CM System to:

  •     Increase visitor engagement
  •     Source user feedback using Web 2.0 tools
  •     Enhance ease of use for site visitors
  •     Deliver web content to users in multiple languages

These goals will be achieved through CM System's ability to seamlessly aggregate content from many sources, manage thousands of cross-site links, and provide customizable translation management, as well as through OCSC's broader IT strategy, which called for a move to a flexible cloud-based infrastructure. CM System's technology-neutral adaptive architecture will seamlessly integrate into the cloud, enabling the agency to increase its capacity, flexibility, and ability to respond to new initiatives - whether driven by the White House or the needs of citizens.

"We understand that content management is always part of a bigger story," says Percussion Chief Technical Officer Vern Imrich. "Organizations like OCSC need the freedom to adopt the technologies and infrastructure that meet their needs. The Web is too diverse and important for any one vendor to dictate the terms of engagement. We're thrilled to be one part of the OCSC's initiative to drive value to citizens through"

An extensive vendor selection process and proof of concept led to the selection, which replaces a first generation enterprise web content management system. GSA also pointed to Percussion's longstanding experience with government clients, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Department of Justice as validation for the selection.
