BTI Systems Announces OTN-enabled Carrier Ethernet for BTI 7000 Series Packet Optical System

Introduces G.709 OTN plus packetVX™ Carrier Ethernet service enhancements delivering resiliency, reach and performance for 10GbE networks

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 21, 2009 -- BTI Systems, a global supplier of Intelligent Service Edge solutions for the delivery of high bandwidth, multi-protocol services, announced today new OTN enhancements for the BTI 7000 Series' packetVX integrated packet modules for Ethernet and IP service delivery.

"These enhancements to BTI 7000 and our packetVX modules provide complete switching and aggregation for Carrier Ethernet Services (EPLINE, EPLAN, EVPLINE, EVPLAN) with full QoS/CoS which radically simplify Ethernet business services delivery, IP-based triple-play service networks, and wireless backhaul solutions." said Gary Southwell, CTO, EMEA, BTI Systems.

The BTI 7000 Series' packet optical networking platform provides Carrier Ethernet service delivery converged with a scalable, high capacity WDM transport layer that simplifies networks by reducing network elements, and leverages the BTI's proNX™ multi-layer management for a rapid and consolidated approach to provisioning of the transport and service layers.

G.709 OTN provides packet optical networks with a SONET/SDH-like operational model for network administration and performance monitoring with the additional benefits of improved network reach and protection switching. The addition of software-selectable G.709 OTN to packetVX family provides General Communications Channel (GCC) for in-band management communications, Forward Error Correction (FEC) and enhanced FEC for extended network reach and improved throughput, and Layer 1 Performance Monitoring capabilities for 10GbE connectivity.

BTI Systems will be demonstrating its integrated Carrier Ethernet plus OTN packetVX solutions in Chicago at Supercomm booth #3420.
