"Since launching CarMD in 2006, we've empowered tens of thousands of drivers to keep their cars and trucks healthy, but the economy is very different today versus a few years ago," says Richard Amador, director of marketing for Corp. "Mac usage is gaining ground and consumers are holding onto their vehicles much longer than ever before. These expanded applications enable CarMD to help even more drivers identify and solve problems early, which can save time, money and results in cleaner, greener vehicles."

Beginning today, the CarMD® 2100 Handheld Device & Software Kit will include Version 3.0 software for both Mac and PC use. In addition to working with Microsoft Windows® 2000, XP and Vista systems, CarMD will work with most Apple® systems. Coverage includes Apple® MacOS X Tiger (10.4.4 or newer), MacOS X Leopard (10.5 x), with an Intel, PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 processor running at 700 MHz or more. For additional operating system requirements, visit The CarMD tester, software and website have been designed for ease of use, and feature lifetime free software and firmware updates.

"In developing this product, we wanted to do much more than simply adapt the initial PC application to work on a Mac," said Amador. "We worked very closely with third-party consultants and outside labs to design and validate that our software runs on a wide range of current and past Mac operating systems."

The CarMD handheld device, works on 1996 and newer cars, trucks, SUVs and minivans manufactured for use in North America - foreign and domestic. The easy-to-use tester can be used to quick check an unlimited number of vehicles. Within seconds, its color-coded (green, yellow, red) LEDs tell the driver if the vehicle's systems are running normally, which is beneficial when inspecting a used car, preparing for a road trip or to pre-check for an emissions "smog" test. If a problem is found, CarMD customers gain access to a database with tens of thousands of real-life fixes from ASE Certified Technicians. By using the included software, USB cable, and a personal Internet connection, customers can generate a diagnostic report with probable cause, fix and estimated repair costs, including parts and labor by region.

In addition to introducing the new Mac/PC dual-platform tool, CarMD has made substantial enhancements to the public and private sections of its website, which is being designed as THE portal where consumers go for all things automotive. Current CarMD customers will enjoy many new additions to the login section of the site, such as enhanced diagnostic reports; technical service bulletins (TSBs) by related problem; how-to videos and more.
