Having them on board the Matchmaking Flight as official matchmakers was a great example of what we hope to happen for each of our passengers. Finding The One in usual ways – on a T.V. show or in the sky – is the spirit that has encompassed this journey, and we couldn’t be happier for these two.

In a showing that true love knows no limits, The Bachelor’s Jason Mesnick proposed to girlfriend Molly Malaney in New Zealand last night. The couple embarked on a weeklong journey to Auckland on October 13 aboard Air New Zealand’s Matchmaking Flight, helping American singles to find their match. It seems the romantic festivities rubbed off, with Mesnick popping the question to Malaney in Queenstown after days of sightseeing and activities that included riding the wild Waitomo rapids.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to hear the news of Jason and Molly’s engagement,” said Kathryn Gregory, marketing director, Air New Zealand – the Americas. “Having them on board the Matchmaking Flight as official matchmakers was a great example of what we hope to happen for each of our passengers. Finding The One in usual ways – on a T.V. show or in the sky – is the spirit that has encompassed this journey, and we couldn’t be happier for these two.”
In a statement made before embarking on the journey, Mesnick said, “New Zealand is a very special place for us, and we couldn’t be happier to be invited by Air New Zealand to return, allowing us to escalate our love and commitment to each other.”
The world’s first mile-high matchmaking experience, Air New Zealand’s Matchmaking Flight departed from Los Angeles on October 13 with 100 adventurous singles looking to find The One in air or across the Pacific. The flight kicked off with a gate party – hosted by Mesnick and Malaney – that included icebreakers, an open bar and a special performance to “Single Ladies” by the Air New Zealand flight crew. The 12-hour flight included a themed cabin, complimentary party packs, food and drink designed to spark romance, advice from the happy couple, speed dating and other activities. Once in Auckland, passengers mixed with single New Zealanders at The Great Matchmaking Party on October 16. Kicked off with a cocktail party at SKYCITY’s ultra-glam bar twentyone, travelers and Kiwis partied the night away at The Wharf on Northcote Point, then headed to the after-party back at SKYCITY.
