Sleep Experts' Christine Cook Named SafeHaven 2009 Legacy of Women Award Winner

Christine Cook of Dallas/Fort Worth mattress retailer Sleep Experts has been named a 2009 Legacy of Women Award winner by SafeHaven of Tarrant County. Cook was one 15 finalists who were all recognized at the nonprofit organization's Legacy of Women Awards Luncheon held October 8 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The annual event benefits SafeHaven's domestic violence prevention and intervention programs and honors women who are leaving a legacy in Tarrant County.

Over the years these mattresses have helped us provide a safe and comfortable night's sleep to thousands of women and children seeking shelter from family violence.

Christine Cook, wife, mom, and president of Dallas/Fort Worth mattress retailer Sleep Experts, has been named a 2009 Legacy of Women Award winner by SafeHaven of Tarrant County. Cook is honored in the Business category and shares the Award with four other distinguished leaders in the Arts, Education, Health and Human Services, and Volunteerism.

Cook was one 15 finalists who were all recognized at the nonprofit organization's Legacy of Women Awards Luncheon held October 8 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The annual event benefits SafeHaven's domestic violence prevention and intervention programs and honors women who are leaving a legacy in Tarrant County.

"Through Christine's Rest Assured program, Sleep Experts makes regular donations of refurbished mattresses to SafeHaven's two emergency shelters in Arlington and Fort Worth," said Mary Lee Hafley, Executive Director of SafeHaven. "Over the years these mattresses have helped us provide a safe and comfortable night's sleep to thousands of women and children seeking shelter from family violence."

Cook has also been recognized this year by the Dallas Business Journal with its 2009 "Woman to Watch" award, and by Resource Center Dallas with its "Five Factor" award for philanthropy. In addition, Sleep Experts' received the 2009 Greater Dallas Business Ethics Award, and the judging committee acknowledged the company's strong commitment to community as an influencing factor in their selection.
