ArjoHuntleigh Canada: ArjoHuntleigh is excited to report that they will now be the exclusive distributor of the full HoverTech International product line in Canada. This partnership allows ArjoHuntleigh to provide acute facilities in Canada with a comprehensive line of products and solutions to assist with all their patient handling challenges reducing risk and injury to caregivers. Lateral Transfers are one of the highest risk tasks in nursing for injury. The HoverTech line of products decreases the risk of injury to caregivers performing lateral transfers while simultaneously improving the comfort of the patient and eliminating the potential for skin shear during transfers. ArjoHuntleigh is a world leader in providing integrated solutions for the care of people with reduced mobility and related conditions. HoverTech International is the world's market leader in Air-Assisted Lateral Patient Transfer equipment. Andra Forrest, Product Manager of Patient Handling for ArjoHuntleigh in Canada commented, "The new relationship formed by ArjoHuntleigh in Canada and HoverTech International brings together the vast experience and comprehensive knowledge of two expert patient handling companies. ArjoHuntleigh is excited to announce this union which will benefit acute facilities nationwide". She adds,"ArjoHuntleigh and HoverTech together will help us solve more everyday challenges that our caregivers face performing lateral transfers in a safe and comfortable manner, for both caregiver and patient".
The HoverMatt® transfer mattresses are inflated with a small air supply, as the mattress is inflated; air is escaping from thousands of perforated holes on the underside of the matt. It is the escaping air that acts to reduce friction making it seem as if a patient weighs about 10% of their actual weight.
The majority of transfers taking place in hospitals today are from one lateral surface to another; patients can be transferred in this matter 10 or more times within the first 48 hours of admission to hospital resulting in the risk of Musculoskeletal Injuries to caregivers from overexertion. The HoverTech product family eliminates this risk allowing the caregivers to quickly, safely and comfortably transfer patients on a cushion of air resulting in increased quality of care and decreased healthcare costs.
