NuUnion’s Growth Brings New Staff Additions

NuUnion Credit Union recently welcomed Bruce Perkins and Melisa Miller as Mortgage Advisors, Shawn Barker as Manager of its DeWitt Branch, Ellen Kent as Manager of its Main Branch, and Nicole Piche as Student Services Outreach Representative for the credit union.

Bruce Perkins brings over 18 years of experience in the mortgage industry to his role as a mortgage lending specialist and is known for putting his clients’ needs first to find the right mortgage product for each member’s unique situation. Perkins serves the Lansing and Mt. Pleasant areas. Perkins resides in his hometown of Mason with his family. He is a tennis pro and enjoys golf and hunting.

Melisa Miller serves as the mortgage lending specialist for NuUnion’s West Michigan area. Miller has spent over 10 years in the mortgage lending industry. She volunteers at Hospice of Muskegon, and is an active member of the West Michigan Lakeshore Association of Realtors and the Women’s Council of Realtors. She lives with her family in her native Norton Shores, where she enjoys boating, running and family activities.

Shawn Barker is manager of NuUnion’s DeWitt branch and has extensive experience in the banking industry, including manager of Bank of America’s DeWitt branch. Barker is a member of the DeWitt Chamber of Commerce and has held several leadership positions. He resides with his family in Williamston and enjoys martial arts.

Ellen Kent will lead the credit union’s Main Office located in downtown Lansing. Kent has a background in customer service and marketing and in her new position will continue to increase the branch’s involvement and support of the Lansing community. Kent and her family live in DeWitt and enjoy RVing and spending time outdoors.

Nicole Piche, as NuUnion’s Student Services Outreach Specialist, will work to build relationships with high schools, universities and colleges in the state of Michigan, including Central Michigan, Grand Valley State, Michigan State, and Ferris State, introducing them to NuUnion’s innovative student loan product, Credit Union Student Choice. Piche’s professional background includes working with teachers and administrators throughout the state as an educational textbook consultant. Piche is an MSU alumna and resides in Laingsburg with her family. She enjoys MSU football, horseback riding and all things outdoors.

NuUnion was established in 1952 and today is over 91,000 members strong. With more than $842 million in assets and 14 branches, including eight locations in Lansing, two in Mt.
