Triple Crown is clearly a leader in the urban fiction renaissance, and we are very pleased to work with them
La Vergne, TN (Vocus) October 28, 2009
Ingram Publisher Services Inc. (IPS), the full-service book distribution company of Ingram Content Group Inc., today announced that three new publisher clients have been added to its roster of publisher partners: Triple Crown Publications (TCP), a leader in urban and hip-hop literature, Ooligan Press, a teaching press of Portland State University and Overdue Media, the publisher of the popular library comic Unshelved.
"Triple Crown is clearly a leader in the urban fiction renaissance, and we are very pleased to work with them," said Mark Ouimet, General Manager of IPS. "Triple Crown has sold over one million books to date, and we look forward to helping them reach even more readers."
TCP was founded in 2001 by President and CEO Vickie Stringer as a home-based business. The company has grown from a one-woman operation, to a publisher that works with over 30 different authors, and distributes books to bookstores and libraries worldwide.
“TCP has been a labor of love for me,” said Vickie Stringer, President and CEO of Triple Crown Publications. “My colleagues and I have nurtured the urban and hip-hop literature industry and are proud to be an integral part of its incredible growth.”
Ms. Stringer continued, “We are thrilled to be working with Ingram. Their strong reputation and proven track record for delivering solutions that work in the industry made them the easy choice for us to build upon our success. We look forward to a long, successful relationship.”
IPS is now the exclusive distributor for Ooligan Press, the not for profit general trade press operated fully by students pursuing master’s degrees in English from Portland State University, and Overdue Media, publisher of the comic strip collection Unshelved.
As a teaching press, Ooligan makes as little distinction as possible between the press and the classroom. Under the direction of professional faculty and staff, the work of the Press is done by students enrolled in the Book Publishing graduate program at Portland State University. Publishing profitable books in real markets provides projects in which students combine theory with practice. Ooligan Press publishes books honoring cultural and natural diversity. Because of location and mission, Ooligan emphasizes work with a Pacific Northwest perspective, but is open to work by authors from anywhere in the world.
Based in Seattle, Washington, Overdue Media has produced seven collections of the popular Unshelved, the comic based on the adventures of Dewey the librarian, his dysfunctional coworkers, and their quirky customers. Overdue Media also sells reader-friendly apparel and merchandise, and will publish forthcoming collections of the hit new comic strip Not Invented Here, set in the software industry.
“Ooligan Press, Overdue Media and Ingram share a common passion - we are passionate about books and serving our customers well,” said Mr. Ouimet. “We could not ask for better caliber partners that share our ideals, and I very much look forward to our work together.”
