If a Booksfree member sees a new best-seller at the store, they can now add that title to their queue right from their cell phone
Vienna, VA (PRWEB) October 29, 2009
Booksfree.com, the largest online book rental service, today announced the launch of Booksfree Mobile, a section of its popular book rental web site designed to give members easy access to their account while on the go.
The new mobile section will allow Booksfree members to manage their account from mobile devices such as cell phones. "In this day and age, it's hard to find anyone without a cell phone in their pocket," said Doug Ross, President and CEO of Booksfree.com.
"If a Booksfree member sees a new best-seller at the store, they can now add that title to their queue right from their cell phone," said Ross. Because of the limitations of call phone web browsers, Booksfree Mobile has been optimized to display and function properly on those devices.
Members accessing the Booksfree web site through their cell phone will automatically be redirected to a mobile version of the site. Through the mobile site, members will be able to sign in, search for titles, add titles to their queue, move and remove titles from their queue, check if an order has been shipped, or report a problem.
With more and more mobile devices like cell phones becoming connected to the Internet, security threats are becoming more of a concern. When asked about security, Ross replied, "We are being proactive by employing the latest security techniques and technologies on our mobile site."
Most cell phones are web enabled, giving users access to basic content via the web. Smartphones like the Apple iPhone utilize Apple's Safari web browser and give users a desktop-like web browsing experience, therefore, these phones will not be redirected to the Booksfree Mobile site. New smartphones from T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint will utilize Google's new Android OS which comes with Google's Chrome web browser and will also not be redirected.
Booksfree.com is the largest online rental service for paperback, children's and audiobooks, offering subscribers access to more than 250,000 titles. The company offers a variety of subscription plans, starting at just $10.99 a month. There are no due dates or late fees and shipping both ways is free. Booksfree also allows members to keep books at a discounted price and earn credits for referrals, used book contributions, and gift membership purchases.
