New Children's Book Published by Newington, Connecticut Author

Two young hermit crabs embark on a journey that is both spiritual and literal in this delightfully illustrated book.

(PRWEB) October 29, 2009 -- The Long Journey Home, a children's book by Newington, Connecticut resident Sandy Mattucci, was recently published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. of Pittsburgh.

It is a spiritual journey for the young and the young at heart who meet up with the likes of two curious hermit crabs: Harvard and Helena. Harvard and Helena are on a quest to leave the comfortable confines of their underwater cave to seek the light above the surface of the ocean's depths. The strategy to embark on their journey leads them through unexpected perils and dangerous encounters they never would have imagined. But they do not turn back. They find their way to the light only to discover a new adventure and a "truth" they had known all along. This truth, passed to them by the wise old Papa Crawler, Hermit-Ville's seer, is embraced. Yet before they truly understand life's lessons they, like each of us, must risk letting go of the familiar. Their young lives are just beginning. What new wonders could possibly lie ahead?

Inspired by the inner child within her soul, Sandy Mattucci seeks freedom and truth in a playful manner in The Long Journey Home. After receiving a bachelor's degree in contemporary ministries from Spring Arbor College, she went on to obtain certification for the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) and a master of arts in pastoral studies from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Most recently, she has attended Art Instruction Schools in Minneapolis, MN. Formerly a police officer in Connecticut, Sandy now works as a chaplain and spiritual director. She enjoys the outdoors, recreational activities, and drawing.

The Long Journey Home is a 40-page hardcover with a retail price of $16.00. The ISBN is 978-1-4349-0236-8. For more information or to request a review copy, please visit our virtual pressroom at www.dorrancepublishing.com or our online bookstore at www.dorrancebookstore.com.
