Nitto Tire intends to digitally enable the tire retail industry by launching a website designed to help tire stores increase their profits and improve efficiency. The program, which is targeted to launch in the first quarter of 2010, aims to increase stores' repeat business, lower marketing costs, gain access to valuable online training, and create a community where dealers can seek answers from peers. These services will be provided by Nitto without charge for the first year. Nitto will debut a working prototype at the 2009 SEMA show. Visit Nitto at booth #46115 for a special demonstration.
When asked about Nitto's motivation for the website, marketing representative Stephen Leu responded, "We wanted to create something that would help the entire tire industry. All of the features are specifically designed to help tire stores using the latest electronic and mobile-based advertising. "
One of Nitto's primary goals was to help tire dealers increase their profits. To achieve this goal, Nitto created a service reminder system that automatically sends reminder emails or mobile text messages to consumers to notify them of upcoming services, such as tire rotations, oil changes and general maintenance. The system tracks the types of products each customer purchased to send highly targeted service messages. Sending these reminders electronically also lowers marketing costs by eliminating printing and postage costs.
Nitto will also provide stores with tools to build their own websites with the goal of gaining new customers. "Since many consumers use online search engines to find a local tire store, dealers without websites are missing potential sales," said Leu. "We are providing professional website designs that dealers can use to drive traffic to their doors."
In much the same way Nitto wants to facilitate dealers communicating directly with their customers, Nitto also wants to facilitate dealers communicating with each other. The site includes discussion forums designed specifically for tire dealers to help them get answers to questions quickly and share their knowledge with other stores. Nitto's aims to create an online community where dealers help other dealers and create a shared repository of knowledge.
Nitto's second goal was to provide education about its products and tire-related services. The site includes an interactive training module that consists of a series of short videos and quizzes. Unlike formal classroom training, dealers instantly access the videos. It also allows dealers to learn on their own time and at their own pace.
"We're excited to bring this digital solution to tire retailers," said Leu. "We think it will revolutionize our industry."
