Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) October 29, 2009
Special encore of "From Hawaii With Love," hosted by Jenny Fujita and Joy Koerte at 2 p.m. PT on Friday, Oct. 30 on The VoiceAmerica Talk Radio Network Variety Channel, listeners will meet Hilo, Hawaii's very own BJ "The Prodigy" Penn. Listeners will hear about Penn's life as the second MMA fighter to win UFC titles in two weight divisions, welterweight and lightweight, and as the first American-born winner of the World Jiu Jitsu Championship.
Penn will also talk about how he's preparing to defend his lightweight title against Diego Sanchez at UFC 107 on Dec. 12 and discuss his upcoming projects, and how his Hawaii upbringing has influenced his success. Penn will play "Hawaii 5-Go," a speed round of five fun questions, and answer the question Koerte and Fujita ask all of their guests: what's the best lesson Hawaii can teach the world?
UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn was raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. Nicknamed The Prodigy, Penn earned his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and became the first American-born winner of the World Jiu Jitsu Championship in the black-belt category after only three years of training. He's only the second fighter to win Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) titles in different weight classes.
Most recently, Penn successfully defended his lightweight title against Kenny Florian in UFC 101. On Dec. 12 at UFC 107, Penn will fight Diego Sanchez for the UFC Lightweight Championship.
Penn was a coach on Spike TV's "The Ultimate Fighter 5" reality TV show. He also appeared in the film "Never Surrender," and is the co-author of "Mixed Martial Arts: The Book of Knowledge," an instructional book on MMA fighting.
Penn is the founder of the Penn Hawaii Youth Foundation, which serves at-risk youth by inspiring them through MMA. For more information on BJ Penn, visit http://www.bjpenn.com.
"From Hawaii With Love," the popular VoiceAmerica internet radio show, is hosted by Joy Koerte, a lifelong Hawaii resident, and Jenny Fujita, a once-newcomer to the islands. What makes Hawaii an exceptional destination is its inimitable, hard-to-define aloha spirit. In fact, a national survey ranked Hawaii second in the "Best Places to Live Poll." While Hawaii's millions of visitors and the many others who fantasize about life in paradise can't all live there, they can be inspired by Hawaii's beautiful customs and traditions and share them with their families and communities. On "From Hawaii With Love," Koerte and Fujita do just that, as well as give an insider's view of how life really is in Hawaii and weave this into their interests from food to fashion, family, beauty, business, and more. Show guests include Hawaii's greatest success stories and friends and family who are among Hawaii's most colorful characters.
