Technology Association of Georgia Smart Grid Society Names Brendan Thompson to 2009-2010 Board of Directors

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) announced that Brendan Thompson, General Manager of CTS, joined the Board of Directors for its newly formed Smart Grid society. The mission of the TAG Smart Grid society is to educate, enlighten, and accelerate the development of Smart Grid in Georgia by exploring key technologies and collaborations necessary to drive Smart Grid systems into reality.

Georgia is headquarters or a major operations hub for many of the world's leading smart grid related companies and organizations. Through the efforts of the TAG Smart Grid Society and this all volunteer board, TAG will seek to foster a growth environment that will accelerate Georgia's leadership role in the global Smart Grid marketplace.

Regarding the formation of the Smart Grid Society, TAG President Tino Mantella remarked, "Georgia is headquarters or a major operations hub for many of the world's leading smart grid related companies and organizations. Through the efforts of the TAG Smart Grid Society and this all volunteer board, TAG will seek to foster a growth environment that will accelerate Georgia's leadership role in the global Smart Grid marketplace."

The TAG Smart Grid Society presented the society's goals, objectives, board members, and calendar of events at an informational breakfast briefing on September 30, 2009. The board also provided a summary introduction to the drivers and major components of the Smart Grid at this event.
