Artists interested in becoming a juried MountainMade artist have just two more weeks to submit applications and art samples for the final jury evaluation of the year.

MountainMade supports West Virginia artists with marketing, sales, shipping and other business services. MountainMade operates a Gallery and Country Store, in Thomas. The group also retails artisan works at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, West Virginia, and the MountainMade Foundation offers art education in its Thomas studios.

MountainMade admits West Virginia artists based on the jury process. The jury panel requires at least 3 completed works as part of the application process, and images of additional works can also be included. The jury panel evaluates the artists' creative process, unique techniques or traditions, and experience, as well.

General manager Becky Henderson said becoming a member of the MountainMade artist family is a chance to reach a global audience. Henderson said the jury process improves the marketability of all MountainMade artists by ensuring the highest quality.

“We’re known for only selling the best,” she said. “Being on the new e-commerce platform and social media sites gives these West Virginia artists an opportunity to sell their creations to customers around the world.”

MountainMade typically conducts the jury process three times each year. The first jury opportunity in 2010 is tentatively scheduled for March. The application deadline for that jury session will be announced at a later date.

For more information on the application process, prospective artists can download an application at http://www.mountainmade.com, or call (304) 463-3355 option 1 to speak with a MountainMade representative. Information can also be found in the MountainMade Page on Facebook.
