When Kathi debuted her newest film "Worth" October 2008 at the La Femme International Film Festival in Beverly Hills, California she had no idea it would go on to become critically acclaimed. Described as a "simple film, yet very profound" "Worth" has captured the attention of industry and public audiences alike. The film has no celebrities or star names that grace the marquee, no big budget special effects and no long list of industry heavy-weights behind it. So what is her secret?
"Worth" is inspired by a turn-of-the-century poem. This seemingly simple film not only has as its central theme "you can't judge a book by its cover", but in an unusual, ironic twist the film also proves the same premise: packed within this 7-minute piece are themes which require most filmmakers a feature-length film to explore. They include class distinction and self-esteem, peer pressure and judging others, limiting oneself and putting limitations on others. Says Kathi, "I like to give the audience something unexpected, something to think about long after the end credits have rolled."
