Power Chopper Salad, Wafu Bowl and Baja-ladas Platter—Wahoo’s Fish Taco Fanatics Help Name New Menu Items
Winners of Chain’s ‘Taste It. Name It. Win It.’ Contest Receive Free Food for a Year
Santa Ana, Calif. (PRWEB) November 6, 2009 -- Wahoo’s Fish Taco, a community mainstay and worldwide pop culture phenomenon since 1988, today unveiled the winning names of the “Taste It. Name It. Win It.” contest—Power Chopper Salad, Wafu Bowl and Baja-ladas Platter. As a part of the chain’s 20 year milestone celebration, Wahoo’s added three new menu items and in turn asked loyal customers to help out with creating names for the meals. The lucky winners will receive free food from Wahoo’s Fish Taco for one year.
“The response from our customers was tremendous—we received thousands of entries and were astounded and delighted at the creativity,” said Wing Lam, co-founder and partner of Wahoo’s. “We want to thank everyone who participated. It was a difficult decision to pick three winners. Every entry was original and it was exciting to review all the innovative ideas, several of which had our entire Wahoo’s team laughing.”
Winners Marly Billings of Newport Beach, Shelly Mayo of Brentwood and David Walter of Los Angeles captured the attention of the founders with their suggestions. Additionally, the new names capture the overall essence of the updated menu options—tasty, homemade food offered at a great value that’s also good for you:
• Power Chopper Salad – The Wahoo’s take on the traditional chopped salad. This new dish will include the standards, but are enhanced with rice, beans and salsa, giving it a distinct Wahoo’s taste. Taking note of the “powerful” flavors, Walter naturally decided upon Power Chopper Salad for the delicious salad.
• Wafu Bowl – Listening to health-conscious customers like winner Mayo, Wahoo’s added a Tofu Combo Platter. Served with rice and the choice of white or black beans, the tofu is marinated in the restaurant’s authentic sauce.
• Baja-ladas Platter – The new plate takes the restaurant’s famous homemade Baja Roll and gives it new dimension. The roll is served piping hot with enchilada sauce and cheese and includes sides of both rice and beans to provide a balanced savory taste. Billings’ winning name perfectly defines the unique combination of enchilada and Wahoo’s Baja Roll.
