Texas Company Joining Community in Sending Holiday Cheer to Soldiers

Family, friends, and community businesses prepare holiday gift packages for soldiers serving on U.S. destroyer, U.S.S. Sampson.

Richardson, TX (PRWEB) November 8, 2009 -- Texas Treats Inc., a Richardson-based gourmet baskets and gifts company, is joining local families in their efforts to send some Texas holiday cheer to the soldiers serving on the U.S.S. Sampson. On Sunday, November 8, family and friends will gather together to prepare holiday packages for the officers of the ship as part of the Operation Holiday Adoption.

Texas Treats Inc., a company with family connections to the military, will participate by donating 100 bags of tortilla chips and 50 jars of salsa with personalized labels bearing the name of the ship, U.S.S. Sampson.

Jackie Schwitter, President and Owner of Texas Treats Inc. commented, "Our company has personal connections to the military. Ensign C.H. Hewitt, serving his first deployment on the U.S.S. Sampson, is the son of a family friend. Also, my husband, father, son-in-law, and nephew have served in the armed forces. This is just our small way of saying 'thank you' to our soldiers."

This year, Texas Treats is also including a complimentary holiday stocking containing a pair of socks, Christmas candy, holiday greeting, and thank you note from Texas Treats with every order sent to a member of the Armed Forces.

Texas Treats has created various USPS flat rate mailing boxes especially designed for shipment to military members. These packages range from $10 to $35, plus shipping. Taste of Home gift boxes can be found on the Army/Air Force Exchange Service web mall at www.aafes.com, as well as at www.TexasTreats.com. Special packages created for the Armed Forces can be found by clicking the link for Gift Baskets and then the link for U.S. Armed Forces Gifts. The U.S. Postal Service recommends that overseas packages be mailed by November 13 in order to take advantage of parcel post rates.

The gifts can even be personalized with a custom-made salsa label prepared with the name of the soldier. The Taste of Home-Large Package comes packed to the brim with tortilla chips, salsa ranchera (label may be personalized), Texas flag koozie, cowtown cookies, Texas snack packs and more. The gift is then topped with a Texas flag bandana and a gift card.
