TraderPlanet Founder Named as Tampa Bay Business Journal 2009 Up & Comer

Mendelsohn was recognized by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as an honoree for the 2009 Up & Comers Award. The finalists were honored at a dinner on November 5 at the Tampa Waterside Hotel & Marina. The Up & Comer award honors rising professionals in the Tampa Bay area who are committed to excellence in both their work and community environments. Mr. Mendelsohn was named in the "Under 30" category.
 As a wide-eyed six year old, he started helping his dad on weekends by stuffing direct mail envelopes, copying program files onto floppy disks (yes floppies), and doing general office cleaning. Lane essentially grew up in the financial industry and has known many top technical analysts, brokers, software developers, and money managers most of his life. When he was just fifteen years old he designed Market Technologies’ first website presence on the Internet.
Lane’s vision of providing educational content to traders has resulted in the creation of www.TraderPlanet.com, a social networking site that has fostered a growing community of over twenty thousand active traders since it launched January 2009. In addition, TraderPlanet philosophically represents Lane’s commitment to giving back to the community since a major aspect of the website includes a charitable giving component, wherein both TraderPlanet and its members donate money and resources to worthy charities throughout the world.
Lane is not all business, though; or at least not entirely so. His “alter ego” plays in the world of farm and ranch animals as a hobby. Some know him as “Mr. Greenjeans.” He enjoys relaxing at his Wesley Chapel ranch raising and breeding Black Angus cattle and taking care of numerous other farm animals including chickens, roosters, Nubian milking goats and even a loveable miniature donkey. Although he does this to relax, he is never one to pass up a good buy or a profitable sell. Sometimes, you can take the man out of the business, but you can’t take the business out of this man.
