MTU Onsite Energy to Feature New 600 kW Series 1600 Diesel Generator Set at Power Gen International
The MTU Onsite Energy booth at Power Gen International in Las Vegas, December 8–10, will focus on power nodes of 600 kW and less in both diesel and gas generator sets.
Mankato, MN (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 10, 2009 -- Generator sets of 600 kW and less will be the focus of the MTU Onsite Energy booth (#C3-834) at the 2009 Power Gen International trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, December 8–10. The display will feature the newest generator set powered by an MTU engine, the 600 kW Series 1600. This family of smaller generator sets ranges in power output from 270 kW to 635 kW and offers engine configurations that include a 6-cylinder inline, 8V, 10V and 12V.
MTU Onsite Energy will also feature a 60 kW diesel generator set and a 40 kW gaseous generator set. All of the units scheduled for display at the show are well suited for use in small to medium emergency standby power and peak-shaving applications. They are also ideal for providing temporary power at construction sites and for supplying replacement power during facility maintenance or expansion.
“The new Series 1600 engine family covers more generator set power nodes than were previously available with MTU engines,” says Neil Majeski, program manager for the Series 1600 generator sets. “The addition of the Series 1600 engine now enables MTU Onsite Energy to supply generator set packages with MTU engines that range in power from 270 kW to 3,250 kW.”
A feature that should be of particular interest to Power Gen International attendees is the new streamlined outlet box on the Series 1600 generator sets that includes the breaker and control panels in one package. The flexible design allows mounting of the control panels and breakers on either the right or left side of the box, greatly facilitating installation. According to Majeski, this is now a standard design feature that previously would have required custom engineering.
