Terranea Resort in California Hosts Fashion Camp for Kids and Teens Lead by Hollywood Designer

Terranea Resort in California is hosting an overnight fashion camp for kids and teens to learn how to style and design their own looks.

Palos Verdes, CA (PRWEB) November 12, 2009 -- Terranea Resort is looking for a few budding fashion designers. As part of the resort's unique programming for kids and teens, Terranea is partnering with Emmy-nominated Hollywood costume designer Jill Ohanneson to offer a series of Fashion Design Camps in California. The kid and teen fashion camps will be held December 19-23 and December 26-30, 2009 at this resort near Hollywood.

Designed for ages 8 through 16, each five-day fashion design camp will be led by Ohanneson, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles and veteran TV and film costume designer with shows such as Trauma, Six Feet Under, Swingtown and Lie to Me among her credits.

Kids Fashion Camp: 8-12 years
Day 1 - Campers discuss and choose a style and fashion sense they admire.

Day 2 - Campers research their chosen personality and create individual collage boards.

Day 3 - Campers design a new outfit and/or look via drawing, collageing, or collecting images and pictures.

Day 4 - Campers travel to a pre-designated shopping center and purchase clothing, shoes, and accessories to style together, to create their personalities new look.

Day 5 - Campers participate in a Fashion Show to showcase their original concept and their finished design.

Teen Fashion Camp: 13 years and older
Day 1 - Campers learn about the process of fashion design, and the potentials for fashion careers in the industry. Campers will hear from industry professionals including a Fashion Designer and a Costume Designer for Film and TV.

Day 2 - Campers research and design their own clothing line consisting of anything from jeans to red carpet evening gowns.

Day 3 - Campers create a pattern for one of their designs and shop fabric, notions, and accessories.

Day 4 - Campers construct and fit one of their designs.

Day 5 - Campers participate in a collective photo shoot to showcase their designs.

Cost for the fashion design camp is $600 per participant ages 8-12 and $750 for participants ages 13-16. Campers do not need to be guests of this resort near Hollywood, California; however the property will be offering a special $195 per night rate to anyone registered in Fashion Camp.
