6th Annual Army-Navy Football Luncheon Set for Saturday, December 12 at the Bostonville Grille
Event brings holiday joy to children who have lost a parent in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 12, 2009 -- For families who have lost a loved on in the military actions in Iraq, Afghanistan and across the world, holidays can be especially difficult. On Saturday, December 12, 2009, The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation will try to ease the grief of children in these families by raising funds for Operation Ensuring Christmas at the 6th Annual Army Navy Football Luncheon at the Bostonville Grille in Lynnfield.
Operation Ensuring Christmas was founded with the purpose of bringing a little extra joy to children who have lost a parent in Iraq or Afghanistan. For many of these children, it will be their first Christmas without a father or a mother. Operating Ensuring Christmas provides these children with a reason to smile, providing Christmas gift cards that allow them to shop for toys at Christmas and a Christmas in July VIP theme park trip to Orlando Florida.
WBZ-TV news anchor Jonathan Elias, Yahoo! Sports writer Gordon Edes, Country 102.5 morning team Lori Grande and John Willis, NECN meteorologist Matt Noyes and many others will come together at the 6th Annual Army - Navy Football Luncheon on Saturday, December 12 at the Bostonville Grille in Lynnfield. This family-friendly event, hosted by the Ahern Family Charitable Foundation, will feature the viewing of the 110th Annual Army-Navy football game on Bostonville Grille's big screen TV's, a buffet luncheon, billiards, free tokens for the game arcade, a silent and live auction, and raffle.
"The Ahern Family Foundation and Operation Ensuring Christmas were both founded after the tragedy of 9/11 to provide financial assistance and support for members of our military and their families," said Bob Ahern, Jr., president of the Ahern Family Charitable Foundation. "We are proud to support Operation Ensuring Christmas for the third straight year and to help bring some joy to children who have lost a parent in the conflicts of Iraq and Afghanistan. These children have involuntarily made the ultimate sacrifice for their country."
The Bostonville Grille is located at 325 Broadway in Lynnfield, MA, on the northbound side of Route 1, just 20 minutes from Downtown Boston. Doors open at 12:00 p.m. and the football game kicks-off at 2:30pm. Tickets to the Sixth Annual Army-Navy Football Luncheon are $25 for adults ($15.00 with military ID) and $10 for children. The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation hosts two fundraising events a year to support both local and national veterans' assistance organizations, including Fisher House, Homes for Our Troops, New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans and Friends of National Guard and Reserve Families, among many others. To date, they have raised more than $200,000 helping to provide services ranging from financial grants and scholarships to psychological treatment for families of deployed troops and lodging for families visiting their wounded and injured loved one.
