New York, NY (PRWEB) November 12, 2009

Pal + Smith, the hip interior and furniture design company in Newport Beach, California, has selected the Michael Tavano showroom/ Wow Factory in New York to represent its fashionable home furnishing collections, which have been featured on the pages of magazines such as Elle Décor, Metropolitan Home, California Home + Design, and Traditional Home.

Melissa Palazzo, co-founder and principal designer of Pal + Smith, combines masculine and feminine elements with stylistic inspirations ranging from Midcentury Modern to Art Déco and French to Asian to create a look with a distinct urban flair. Colors that pop, rich historical references, and rock and roll undertones are defining attributes in Pal + Smith's interiors and furnishings.

"I am ecstatic to have Pal + Smith's furniture here," remarks Michael Tavano. "We have the same aesthetic. I think Melissa and I were separated at birth. We have the same color sense!"

Pal + Smith's debut at Michael Tavano includes furniture, rugs and lighting from their Antoinette and Anthology collections. Featured items include:

Akemi table, a modern take on a traditional Chinese scroll table in white, black and 11 other high-gloss lacquer finishes.

Muse sofa, a scrolling sofa inspired by the curves of a Scarlett Johansson portrait from the pages of Vogue.

Azore rug, which has an exaggerated pattern based on the brocade in a 19th century dress.

Antoinette console, a Rococo-style piece lacquered in a vibrant teal and bright shade of gold, with a Calcutta marble top.

Celtique runner, which has an unusual pattern of Celtic ribbon traceries highlighted in violet on charcoal.

Antoinette rug, large stylized fleur de lis motifs in each corner and a pair of emblems in chartreuse on a vast, rich charcoal background.

Muse chair, 1940s-style chair with button details and tufted back that Palazzo likens to "a little velvet jacket."

Chinois lamp, a large Chinese ginger jar base in bright yellow etched with a stylized naturalist scene.

"Michael has fabulous taste, and a flair for drama in his presentation," says Palazzo. "We gravitate toward the same shades of green, blue and purple. I was amazed to see that the teal blue lacquer in my Antoinette console, which was produced in Southern California, matched two pieces of furniture that he had lacquered on the East Coast."

The Michael Tavano showroom recently opened its doors at the New York Design Center and offers a large selection of furniture, fabrics, carpets, window coverings and hardware. For over 20 years, Michael Tavano has been fabricating very creative window treatments and upholstered goods to customers' specifications.
