GettingHired.com Recognizes First Year Anniversary, Renews Commitment to Helping Lead the Effort to Reduce Employment Participation Gap for People with Disabilities

GettingHired.com recognizes the one year anniversary of the launch of its employment and networking portal for people with disabilities and renews its commitment to leading the effort to reduce the employment participation gap for people with disabilities.

Bedminster, NJ (PRWEB) November 11, 2009 -- GettingHired.com recently passed a milestone, the one year anniversary of the launch on November 7, 2008 of its employment and networking portal for people with disabilities. GettingHired.com connects people with disabilities to employers and jobs. GettingHired.com’s Employer partners are seeking qualified workers and they are committed to considering people with disabilities for all of their open positions.

News ImageWhile recognizing this milestone, GettingHired.com also notes the continued growth in unemployment, and in particular, the widening participation gap for people with disabilities. GettingHired.com affirms its continuing commitment to help lead the effort to reduce this gap.

In this first year, the vision GettingHired.com has for all members of the community has been converted into explosive growth and accomplishment. More than 35,000 people with disabilities have registered with GettingHired.com as Jobseekers; more than 95 employers, including Coca Cola, Toyota, Hancock Bank of Louisiana, Westinghouse, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, Southern California Edison, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Shell Oil Company, PepsiCo, ServiceMaster, Fleming & Company Pharmaceuticals, Amerigroup and Quintiles Transnational to name a few, have partnered with GettingHired.com to post more than 21,000 open positions; and more than 600 public and private sector organizations have joined the Service Provider network. Twenty of these Service Provider organizations are Department of Veterans Affairs facilities and many more are providing employment services specifically for veterans with disabilities. In addition, GettingHired.com continues to network with over 2,300 institutions of higher education across the country, to add Advocacy Organization partners, and to receive the benefit of guidance from an active Advisory Council.

“We are privileged to have made a significant contribution in just our first year toward the goal of creating sustainable employment growth and opportunities for people with disabilities” said Thomas Capato, GettingHired.com’s CEO. “Although we recognize that we have achieved some significant milestones, we know that there are many more people with disabilities, seeking to enter or advance within the workplace, who are qualified to fill positions with employers across the country, and that employers are searching for qualified candidates to fill critical positions within their organizations. We’re taking the occasion of our one year anniversary to renew our commitment to continue to provide the best and most complete resources and connections among all these members of the community.”
