The Post Office® Urges UK Travellers to Check Foreign Currency Exchange Guidelines Before Going Abroad
Check foreign exchange rules for holiday destinations in advance, to avoid being caught out, advises the Post Office
London, UK (PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) November 14, 2009 -- UK holidaymakers wanting to escape the winter chill will be looking to sunnier long-haul destinations which may help their travel money go further. In fact research from the Post Office has revealed that holiday essentials in long-haul destinations such as Thailand are up to 25 per cent cheaper at present than last winter, due to current favourable foreign currency exchange rates and lower costs of living.
However, the Post Office is reminding travellers to double check the rules around importing foreign currency of the country they are heading to. Failure to comply with foreign currency restrictions could leave unwary holidaymakers wanting when it comes to their travel money.
For example, holidaymakers taking travel money to Egypt are only permitted to import or export foreign currency of around 5,000 Egyptian pounds - approximately £600 sterling. (1)
The Post Office warns travellers that researching foreign currency rules before travel is essential. Also, arranging foreign currency before heading to the airport can help UK holidaymakers avoid costly overseas foreign exchange fees and help UK holidaymakers travel money go further.
