Shecky’s Media, Inc. New York, NY (PRWEB) November 13, 2009 -- Shecky’s Media, Inc. (sheckys.com) CEO, Founder, Events & Nightlife Visionary, Chris Hoffman, is bucking the trend of company downsizing by moving his 28+ person staff to 9300 rsf of space at 155 Avenue of the Americas in SoHo next to the long awaited Trump SoHo residential building, more than doubling his old space at 678 Broadway in NoHo.
“We’ve moved to a much larger space, but originally we were looking for 20,000 square foot properties that included room for offices and space to hold our massive Girls’ Night Out Events,” Hoffman said, “When the economy took a dive, we decided that was just too aggressive.”
Women-centric beauty firm Shecky’s currently holds its massive Girls’ Night Out events at SoHo’s Puck Building owned by New York Observer head & Ivanka Trump’s newly betrothed, Jared Kushner, as the buildings largest renter by far.
MonicoProperties.com, originally known for its work in residential sales and rentals, brokered the commercial sublease for Shecky’s after working on the deal for more than a year and a half to find the right space. “When the local and global economy shifted last year, Shecky’s specs changed and kept changing,” says MoniCo. broker Monica Breiland, “I looked at everything on the market from 6000 to 25,000rsf to find the right fit.”
Shecky’s is giving the space a facelift with more than $80,000 in renovations, after taking the space over from ARUP, Trinity Properties’ largest renter. “MoniCo. negotiated a great rate per square foot in our five year sublease from ARUP, including money to improve and build out the space,” says Hoffman, “I walk to work in five minutes with my dog. It’s a good arrangement.”
Hoffman explains Shecky’s ability to expand in today’s economic climate. “Value is the buzz word in this economy. Shecky’s Girls’ Night Out brings the most in fashion, beauty and fun, for the least amount of money,” says Hoffman, “that’s why we’re not just surviving, but thriving in a down market.”
Shecky’s debuted as a popular Zagat-like New York City nightlife guide in 1998. Now in it’s 11th year of business, Shecky’s is an authority in the beauty and fashion space holding its popular Girls’ Night Out events in 14 major cities across the country. Its website www.sheckys.com receives 250,000 “visitors” per month.
