African Well Fund Hosting Fifth Annual Got Water? Online Auction

African Well Fund's fifth annual Got Water? online Ebay Auction concludes on Nov. 16th. The auction includes signed entertainment memorabilia, as well as handmade African crafts. All proceeds will fund water and sanitation projects in Africa.

Schenectady, N.Y. (PRWEB) November 14, 2009 -- The African Well Fund has launched its fifth annual Got Water? online auction (http://myworld.ebay.com/theafricanwellfund/) to raise money to fund water and sanitation projects in Africa. The auction, which features over 50 lots including signed items from the members of U2, Weezer, Anti-Flag, The Swell Season and director Kevin Smith, as well as handmade arts and crafts from Africa, concludes on Nov. 16.

"It's exciting to be able to feature items purchased in Ghana in the auction," said Diane Yoder, vice chairman of the African Well Fund. "It enables us to support the local artisans who created them at the same time that we are raising money for future water projects."

Handmade arts and crafts featured in the auction include baskets from Ethiopia, jewelry from Ghana, paintings from Senegal, a blanket from Sierra Leone and a beaded purse from Zimbabwe.

Signed items in the auction include the book "On the Move" signed by Bono and Adam Clayton, a Music Rising auction catalog signed by The Edge, a water bottle signed by the members of Weezer, a drum head signed by the members of Anti-Flag, the CD "Strict Joy" signed by members of The Swell Season, the book "Shootin' the Sh*t with Kevin Smith" signed by Kevin Smith and an 8x10 photo signed by "Criminal Minds" star Matthew Gray Gubler.

Also included in the auction are U2 collectibles including the books "Killing Bono" and "U2 by U2" signed by author Neil McCormick, the book "In Other Words" signed by author Anthony DeCurtis, CDs, calendars, magazines and posters.

The African Well Fund (http://www.africanwellfund.org) has raised nearly $13,500 from its four previous Got Water? auctions. Since its founding in 2002, the organization, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the mission of funding clean water and sanitation projects in Africa, has raised more than $700,000 to fund more than 200 water projects in 12 African nations, benefiting more than 250,000 people.
