PDS has announced another evolution in the histopathology realm of preclinical science by introducing a new ‘cost-per-slide’ licensing option for the PathData® System.

In making the announcement, Arthur Karakos, Senior Vice President Global Marketing, stated, “Self-employed pathologists will now have access to the same powerful PathData System software that we currently provide to a wide range of customers that include 8 of the Top 10 Pharma in the world, but they will be able to access it on a cost-per-slide basis. This puts the world’s most flexible and powerful preclinical pathology software within easy reach of a growing segment of the industry who desire to work from home or anywhere, yet simply pay to use the PDS tools based on the number of slides they read.”

“The expanding needs of our customer base prompted our interest in delivering additional value,” stated Maro Schuster, Executive Vice President of the North America Operations. “Many very talented pathologists are nearing retirement. At the same time, the need for experienced pathologists remains near record levels. We believe our solution of allowing pathologists to utilize the PathData System per-study based on the number of slides read makes a whole lot of sense for them and for us.” Karakos added, “Equally important is the fact that the pathologists will be accessing the system through our hosting center. That means a turn-key installation and time-to-first-slide-read of only days from the execution of an agreement. If the pathologist is reading a GLP study, they will be happy to know that we are literally GLP-Certified, so the time and expense normally associated with bringing up a GLP-compliant system is greatly simplified and reduced.”

The official kick-off of Pajama Pathology® is the 2009 ACVP/ASVCP Meeting in Monterey, CA, December 4th-8th. Also demonstrated at the meeting will be the new clinical pathology features of the PDS ToxData® System. The new ClinPath features were based on the very positive suggestions and input of the growing ToxData® and ReproData® community. Those enhancements, along with other new features such as Historical Search and enhanced Study Monitoring tools further establish PDS as a flexible and customer-focused vendor.
