Cruises Find Favour with UK Travellers
The Post Office® urges UK travellers to check travel insurance cover as UK cruise holidays increase
London, UK (PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) November 15, 2009 -- Increasing numbers of UK holidaymakers are choosing to go on a cruise holidays, with statistics from the Passenger Shipping Association (1) showing a five per cent increase in cruise travellers from the UK in the first nine months of 2009.
With 1.55 million people expected to take cruises this year, Post Office Travel Insurance is recommending that holidaymakers check their travel insurance cover prior to embarking.
There are many extra factors to consider when buying travel insurance for a cruise holiday. For example, holidaymakers should make sure their travel insurance covers a missed departure or connection as well as falling ill whilst at sea. Post Office Travel Insurance, for example, covers medical emergencies up to a cost of £10m.
Post Office Travel Insurance also recommends that holidaymakers should ensure their travel insurance cover extends to all countries they may visit whilst on the cruise, as well as making sure they are covered for transportation between countries if they fall ill.
In particular, those cruising in the Caribbean, US and Canada should make sure their travel insurance covers any visits to these countries, as some travel insurance providers include these destinations only in their highest level of cover.
By taking the time to ensure the right travel insurance cover is in place, the Post Office advises that holidaymakers can relax on a cruise knowing that if they should encounter any difficulties like sickness or theft while abroad, they will be covered by their policy.
