Tom Tomczyk Joins Buck Consultants Health and Productivity Practice
40-year veteran of the actuarial and benefits consulting industry joins Pittsburgh office of Buck Consultants
Pittsburgh (PRWEB) November 15, 2009 -- Thomas Tomczyk, a 40-year veteran of the actuarial and benefits consulting industry, recently joined the Pittsburgh office of Buck Consultants as a principal in its Health and Productivity practice.
Tomczyk joins Buck from Mercer Human Resource Consulting where he served as principal and senior actuary in the Health and Benefits consulting practice for more than 20 years. Prior to that, he worked for Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania, serving in a number of actuarial positions including corporate actuary. At Buck, Tomczyk assumes a senior strategic role in helping clients design and manage their health care benefit programs.
“Tom is well known and respected in our region and industry,” said Harry Reinhart, Buck Pittsburgh market leader. “He has helped many organizations across a broad range of industries develop and manage effective health care benefit programs. Tom’s vast knowledge and experience will support an already strong practice area and offer our clients benefit solutions that support their business objectives.”
Tomczyk has authored numerous articles on health and benefits issues and is frequently quoted in newspaper and magazine articles. Among his most notable accomplishments is the development of a custom organ transplant network for the state of West Virginia. The rate of transplants for state employees was higher than other states. There was a need for transplant centers to provide for their specific needs, so Tomczyk negotiated services with transplant centers in other states to provide care for the employees in the state of West Virginia.
“I’m happy to have made the move to Buck Consultants because of its innovation and leadership in human resources consulting,” Tomczyk said. “Helping clients develop strategies that will best meet their goals while providing their employees and members with valuable benefit programs is a passion of mine.”
A graduate of Westminster College with a degree in mathematics, Tomczyk currently lives in Peters Township with his family. He is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, an associate of the Society of Actuaries, and a fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. Tomczyk also serves on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Tobacco Settlement Investment Board and the Governor’s Chronic Care Management, Reimbursement, and Cost Reduction Committee.
