Vertuccio's Pizza on The Park has been open for just two months, during that time the new brick oven pizzeria and restaurant located across from the McCaren Park Farmers Market has received countless pleas from health minded parents to add Gluten Free Pizza their list of delicious brick oven Pizzas. Starting November 17, you can now get Brooklyn's finest gluten free.

Ask and You Shall Receive, that is the motto Brooklynites live by, so when parents noticed that with all the new fancy pizza joints springing up in Williamsburg not one of them offered a gluten free option, they went to General Manager, Elina Vertuccio and asked if they would be willing to add it to the menu of the newly opened Vertuccio’s Pizza on the Park. Vertuccio’s head chef, Gaetano Giuffre was at first a bit hesitant having never tackled gluten free cooking before, but when one patron offered up the recipe he said he would be willing to try. A few weeks later Vertuccio’s is ready to unveil its first Gluten Free Pie at the McCaren Park Farmer’s Market. The Farmer's Market takes place every Saturday and they plan on being there passing out samples of the first pies available to the public this Saturday and every Saturday after.."We want to spread the word that we are offering the gluten free option, we felt that starting at the farmers market we were among the right group " says Elina Vertuccio, General Manager. The gluten free pizza will hit the menu in varieties, like the classic Margherita and a special Roasted Vegetable.

Vertuccio’s Pizza on the Park is located just across from the popular McCaren park and since its opening just two months ago has been serving up rustic Southern Italian dishes like fresh homemade pasta and dynamic twists on classic brick oven pizzas. According to one of the frequent diners, "Its a home style menu with an inventive new twist on classic Italian dishes". Adding the Gluten Free Pizza to the menu was an easy decision, Says one of the owners, “People have been coming to us since we opened and asking about a gluten free pizza, we decided to finally give the customers what they wanted.” Gluten has been linked to many different diseases and parents have been known to treat Attention Deficit or Hyperactive disorder in children with a gluten free diet, Adds Elina Vertuccio, “We are happy we can give everyone what they want and hopefully find ourselves a new niche market., we are just thankful our chef was able to get the recipe just right, the result is delicious.. Pizza is certainly something that is loved and enjoyed by all, now Vertuccio’s can satisfy a need that was not being met by any other local businesses.” They are hoping that in tough economic times, listening to the customer might be the key to a successful business.
