'Unwanted Pounds' Campaign; 86 People Sign Up to Lose 1000 Pounds
Colorado man‘s campaign to help fight obesity:
Loses 138 lbs, starts the UP Challenge (Unwanted Pounds), asking that others join him in losing 1000 pounds "collectively."
Denver, CO (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 14, 2009 -- He started his journey at 350 pounds. And after losing 138 pounds in one year, Lance Clarose (Colorado) decided to create his own campaign to encourage others to trim down and get healthy. On September 1, he started the “Family and Friends UP Challenge (Unwanted Pounds)—his own battle against the obesity epidemic. He challenged family, friends and anyone willing to get to work to collectively shed 1000 pounds. Helping others accomplish their weight-loss goals has become his mission.
“My whole life has changed and I want to help others . . . one person at a time, one pound at a time, says Clarose, who is well on his way to attaining his personal weight-loss goal of 180 pounds, “It doesn’t matter where you start, what really matters is where you finish.”
Clarose’s weight-loss journey began when he was introduced to Dallas-based FirstFitness, a weight loss and wellness company. He admits that “many people aren’t ready until their health is threatened.” Clarose was diabetic; he had suffered three strokes, and was taking more than 11 different types of medication. He says that FirstFitness and their Suddenly Slim Xtreme product line truly saved his life, and that the experience helped him as a whole person.
“I just got this calling to do FirstFitness and to help people—no matter what.” Clarose has driven over 100 miles to encourage others with their weight loss and even help clear their cabinets of processed foods. He works with adults and teenagers to help get them started on their journey.
The Family and Friends UP Challenge ends with the final weigh-in on November 15 . . . right before one of the biggest pie-eating holidays of the year. Clarose says that even if they don’t hit their 1000 pound goal, he knows that a lot more people will have the opportunity to get started on their journey to losing weight.
