BNS Completes First Phase of Max Media IPTV Deployment in Taiwan

Over 1,500 homes have been connected in the first phase of the service roll out which is on track to be launched to a further 3,000+ buildings within the next five years, representing 10% of Taiwan's population.

Hong Kong (PRWEB) November 19, 2009 -- Asia's leading IPTV technology solutions provider BNS has successfully completed phase one of Max Media Co. Limited's community-based IPTV service deployment in Taiwan.

Over 1,500 homes have been connected in the first phase of the service roll out which is on track to be launched to a further 3,000+ buildings within the next five years, representing 10% of Taiwan's population.

Community IPTV features a number of innovations and firsts for the Taiwan television market. It is the first true HD IPTV service to residential complexes, commercial buildings and hotels in Taiwan and is also the first service to offer network-based PVR (Personal Video Recorder) features.

The service's network-based PVR, or nPVR, service automatically records real-time television content and enables subscribers to rewind it or view it at a later stage, but without having another piece of equipment cluttering their homes.

"The feedback we have received from subscribers so far has been very positive, specifically with regards to the brilliant HD picture quality," said Mr Andy Cheng, CEO of Max Media Co. Ltd. "But also the rewind TV function we a providing through our nPVR feature has become a really popular as it means that our subscribers won't miss their favourite shows or can rewind to the start if they tune in late."

Under the contract signed with Max Media Co Limited in September 2009, BNS is supplying complete IPTV turnkey solutions for Community IPTV, including network, equipment, software, content, and system integration, maintenance and support services in 3,000+ residential complexes including high-end estates, commercial buildings, service apartments and hotels in Taiwan.

The service, which will be operated by Max Media, consists of 45 TV channels, including exclusive Chinese channels not seen on cable TV, true HDTV channels and VOD content, TV shopping and TV advertising services to homes, offices and hotel rooms.
