Paterson, NJ (PRWEB) November 19, 2009

Factory Direct Furniture, which owns and operates four Ashley Furniture HomeStores in Northern N.J., and Sealy Mattress Company of Paterson, N.J. will donate new furniture and mattress sets for fifteen Paterson apartments for homeless individuals, partnering with New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) as part of the nonprofit's "Housing First" Initiative. The newly formed partnership will allow NJCDC, Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Sealy to come together to provide fully-furnished, permanent housing for these individuals, as well as wrap-around services to assist the residents in working towards healthier, more productive futures.

"Factory Direct and Sealy have truly shown their commitment to the community with these donations, and we are so very thankful," said NJCDC president Bob Guarasci. "What better way for these individuals to start a new phase of their life than with items that demonstrate their personal value and self-worth, like beautiful furniture and a comfortable bed. With that fresh start, these individuals will take their first step in sharing their value with their community as productive citizens."

Factory Direct Furniture owns and operates Ashley Furniture HomeStores in Paramus, Fairfield, Hasbrouck Heights, and Secaucus, NJ as well as in New Rochelle and Middletown, N.Y. NJCDC received vouchers from Passaic County Department of Human Services to rent, maintain, and provide services for homeless individuals at fifteen scattered site apartments as part of the "Housing First" Initiative, but needed to locate partners to donate home furnishings, bedding and other necessary items. This partnership with Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Sealy has enabled NJCDC to provide fifteen individuals an apartment with the comforts that make it a home. "The model that NJCDC follows when providing formerly homeless housing is closely aligned with the values and principles by which the leadership of our organization is guided. By focusing on people and processes, great change is possible," said Factory Direct President and CEO Eugene Chrinian. "We are pleased to be aligned with NJCDC and look forward to working together on an ongoing basis to enact sustainable change in our local community."
