‘Tis the season for giving back, and Room to Grow’s annual Family Holiday Party is the perfect opportunity to do so. On December 8, the families that Room to Grow serves will celebrate the season together with a festive party for the kids. There will be music, arts and crafts, even a visit from Santa Claus himself! Most importantly, the party offers a chance for Room to Grow supporters to get involved and give back.

For this year’s event, Room to Grow is excited to announce that they will partner with children’s toy retailer RosieHippo.com to get help with donations for families in need. There are over 150 Room to Grow families that attend the Family Holiday Party, and each family that attends will receive a holiday gift from Room to Grow. Donors are encouraged to purchase gifts for Room to Grow children by visiting RosieHippo.com and clicking on the Room to Grow gift registry that has already been set up. Room to Grow supporters that visit Rosie Hippo will receive a 35 percent discount, as well as free gift-wrapping on their purchases. In addition, for every order placed that is over $100 between November 1 and December 31, 2009, Rosie Hippo will donate a toy to Room to Grow.

Founded in 1998 by Julie Burns, Room to Grow is a non-profit organization that works to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their first critical three years of development. Expectant parents are referred to Room to Grow by selected prenatal programs that serve low-income families throughout New York City. Following this referral, parents visit Room to Grow and receive one-on-one appointments with a social worker that provides them not only with valuable parenting information, but with clothing, toys and other baby essentials free of charge to ensure a healthy beginning to their child’s life.

About Room to Grow
The mission of Room to Grow is to enrich the lives of babies born into poverty throughout their critical first three years of development. Room to Grow's program provides parents raising babies in poverty with one-on-one parenting support and essential baby items throughout their children's critical first three years of life. Parents expecting a baby are referred to Room to Grow by selected prenatal programs assisting low-income families. Upon their referral, parents visit Room to Grow's warm and inviting space once every three months from just before the birth of the baby until their child turns three. During their one-on-one appointments with our staff social workers, typically lasting two hours, parents receive developmental information, customized support, and all of the needed baby items to ensure a healthy and secure start for their child.
