Lexington, KY (PRWEB) November 23, 2009
The Hyatt Regency Lexington hotel is attracting more downtown visitors after completing a major renovation earlier this year. Occupancy rates in 2009 have exceeded expectations, and the hotel is predicting increased business in 2010. The Lexington Kentucky hotel’s $16-million renovation included 11,000 square feet of meeting space, 366 guestrooms, a health club and an indoor pool. The downtown Lexington hotel also updated its Hyttops Sports Bar, located downstairs from the lobby, which is open during University of Kentucky basketball games.
“Location is key for visitors, so being downtown and connected to Rupp Arena and the Convention Center is a strong selling point for us,” said Larry Bell, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Lexington hotel. “Our guests can walk to nearby shops and popular dining spots, so we’re an ideal choice for travelers whether they are visiting for a conference or here with friends.”
With consumers expecting more for their money, the downtown Lexington Kentucky hotel management team has made high-quality service a top priority in addition to the physical updates. As a result, the Hyatt Regency is expecting more business travelers next year as the economy shows signs of recovery.
“We’ve invested a lot of time in training our staff, improving our catering and dining options and exceeding our guests’ expectations,” said John Gennuso, director of sales and marketing. “We’ve added new amenities like check-in kiosks in our lobby and iPod docking stations in our guestrooms. Many people are complimenting our staff and service, and we’re seeing a lot of repeat business.”
The Lexington hotel is kicking off the holiday season later this month with a Thanksgiving buffet on Nov. 26. The hotel will also be offering special package rates for its annual New Year’s Eve celebration. Over the course of 2009, special events have proven successful for the updated Lexington Kentucky hotel as more people start new traditions away from home. Easter and Mother’s Day brunches drew record crowds.
“We’re pleased with the positive impact we’ve had downtown and on the community overall,” said Bell. “This is something that will carry forward as we prepare for the influx of visitors during the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games next September.”
