In an age where the media is flush with stories about the transmission of infectious diseases, such as Swine Flu, more products are being developed to reduce the chances of bacterial infection. One such product is the recently unveiled reusable, antibacterial pastry bag now available through SonRidge LLC, a catering and chef supplies company located in Western Massachusetts.
“We’re thrilled to be the first company in the United States to offer antibacterial pastry bags,” says SonRidge Partner, Jack Anderson. The pastry bags were developed by Thermohauser, a company in Germany that has been providing top of the line professional food service equipment to bakeries, restaurants and caterers for over 85 years.
Chuck Attridge, National Sales Manager for SonRidge adds, “Not only will food service professionals enjoy the benefits that come from antibacterial products, but they will also appreciate the fact that it has been developed by a highly reputable company in the food service industry known for their quality products.”
In addition to being constructed with antibacterial properties, which inhibit the growth of disease-causing bacteria, the medium-duty cotton fabric pastry bag boasts several fine qualities and benefits. These include being grease-proof, dishwasher-safe, and washable in boiling water.
In order to please professional caterers and chefs, the antibacterial pastry bags are glued to create a one piece bag to help prevent tearing when cutting a hole for the tip. A cloth hanger is sewn to the seam for ultimate durability and to eliminate unsightly rusty metal grommets. The pastry bags are already being produced in 11 sizes, ranging from 10” to 30”. Pastry bags 16” and larger are constructed with reinforced tips for added durability.
“Cakes are an important component of special events, such as birthdays and weddings. When a single pastry bag can be used in frosting a cake made for six people or ninety people, an antibacterial version of this popular baking tool is an important safety innovation, ensuring these special events leave pleasant memories,” says Attridge. The antibacterial pastry bags are currently available on SonRidge’s Web site, http://www.sonridge.com.
