Pod Digital Design Awarded for Best Entertainment, and Best Engagement at the 2009 MITX Awards

14th annual awards celebrates New England’s best interactive technology and Web achievements.

Pod Digital Design has been selected as a winner in the category of Best Entertainment, and Best Engagement for the 2009 MITX Interactive Awards.

The annual MITX Interactive Awards program is the largest awards competition in the country that recognizing achievements in the development and implementation of interactive technologies in New England. The MITX Award winners were announced in 28 web categories, including five “Best of” awards including the ‘Interactive Marketer of the Year’ and the ‘People’s Choice for Agency of the Year’ - at a sold out ceremony attended by more than 1,100 industry professionals held on November 17th at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.

Nominated for awards in three categories including Best Use of Video, Best Branded Content, and Best Entertainment, Pod Design won both awards for a series of promotional games that it created for the History Channel’s show Expedition Africa. The Best Entertainment category chose from entertainment marketing and games, and Best Engagement was one of five “Best Of Show” Categories, selected by the MITX judges.

The Expedition Africa game recreates the journey of Henry Stanley to find Dr. Livingstone. Pod created the game for the Expedition Africa microsite, on Facebook, and the web. The web version of the game went “viral” from traffic via social bookmarking sites, and the iPhone version of the game was selected by Apple to be featured in the App. Store. The iPhone version of the game alone has been downloaded over 400,000 times.
