Irvine, CA (PRWEB) December 3, 2009
Operation Technology, Inc. (OTI), developer of ETAP (http://www.etap.com) enterprise solution for electrical power systems, has announced that Jinan Iron and Steel Group Corporation (Jigang), the largest manufacturer of steel plates in China, has implemented ETAP Real-Time for power system monitoring and predictive simulation.
Jigang was looking for an advanced monitoring solution for their electrical power system with onsite generation facility at their main plant in China's Shandong Province. The power generation facility consisted of 20 generators and several arc furnaces with a total 420 Mega-Watts of power generation capability, and a load demand in excess of 1,200 Mega-Volt-Amperes. With more than 1.5 million Mega-Watts-Hours of on-site generation per year, Jigang was proactive to implement ETAP Real-Time.
ETAP interfaces with the plant's newly installed SCADA system and provides real-time power system monitoring data to Jigang's Energy Control and Management Center. ETAP Real-Time monitors and tracks energy usage and distribution in the system, and determines and predicts the appropriate system response to a variety of changes and fluctuations in the electrical network. It monitors electrical and physical parameters, loading and generation levels, network topology, and control logics. ETAP Real-Time determines the source of potential problems and recommends corrective actions to avoid power system interruptions.
"With the implementation of ETAP Real-Time, the operators, engineers and managers at Jigang will have real-time information at their fingertips to assist them in making informed decisions regarding their power system," says Dr. JJ Dai, General Manager for OTI Far East, a wholly owned subsidiary of Operation Technology, Inc. "We're pleased that Jigang selected the intuitive, intelligent and integrated ETAP Real-Time solution to improve their system reliability and to achieve a more economical operation."
Manager of Equipment and Automation Division for Jigang commented, "ETAP Real-Time is used in our plant to monitor and predict the operation of the electrical network. We are proud of our system modernization through the implementation of such a solution."
