Leading Gourmet Coffee Roaster Looks Past Appliance-Based Solutions to OpenDNS, Deploys and Manages Web Content Filtering at Multiple Locations Through the Cloud With Ease

OpenDNS, provider of the world’s leading Internet navigation and security services that make networks safer, faster, smarter and more reliable, today announced Paramount Coffee, a leading gourmet coffee roaster that also distributes to retail outlets like Sam’s Club and T.J. Maxx and restaurants and cafes, has deployed OpenDNS subscription services across six warehouses and branch offices and its headquarters in Lansing, MI.

Paramount Coffee initially found OpenDNS after searching for a simple to administer and effective Web content filtering solution that would secure the Internet at both warehouse, branch office and headquarter locations. Appliance-based solutions weren’t a viable option, as they would require an on-site device at all seven locations, each incurring ongoing management costs. OpenDNS, which is entirely cloud-based, easily met all of Paramount Coffee’s needs.

“OpenDNS provided us with an easy-to-use, centrally managed Web content filtering interface that we can use to quickly publish changes to any of our warehouses/branch offices,” said Chad Lincoln, IT Manager at Paramount Coffee.

After trialing OpenDNS Basic and experiencing total satisfaction with the service, Lincoln and team opted to upgrade to OpenDNS subscription services and gain more comprehensive Malware Site Protection, an increased Blacklist and Whitelist and more.

“For my boss, the CFO, the price was right. OpenDNS easily saves us over $10,000 a year on Web content filtering subscriptions between all of our seven warehouse, branch and headquarters locations,” continued Lincoln. “I would highly recommend OpenDNS to any business’s IT department. It just works.”

OpenDNS subscription services include both OpenDNS Deluxe and OpenDNS Enterprise. Since they were initially made available, organizations of all sizes – including globally distributed enterprises and some of the country’s largest school districts – have made the switch from appliance-based filtering solutions from vendors such as Websense and Blue Coat. Both new services are delivered in response to customer demand and build upon OpenDNS’s award-winning, cloud-based comprehensive Web content filtering and security services, rock-solid reliable DNS platform and intelligent Internet navigation features.

Both services are available today. For pricing and full feature lists, please visit:
