New Smart911 service allows citizens to provide first responders with critical information in advance of an emergency, enabling improved response times and positively affecting incident outcomes.

Rave Mobile Safety, the leading provider of software solutions for individual, group and public safety, today announced the launch of Smart911. This new service, available to 9-1-1 centers across the country, provides critical data that enables improved response times and positively affects incident outcomes. With Smart911, first responders are immediately equipped with critical, caller-provided content, such as photos, key medical information, emergency contacts, home rescue details, places of work, pet info, and more. The software can also easily provide data relevant to the needs of each individual Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The patented technology works on today's infrastructure and will seamlessly migrate to future NextGen 911 IP based systems.

"Today's Public Safety Answering Points are facing the dual challenge of a 40 year old infrastructure and increasingly sophisticated public expectations," said Tom Axbey, chief executive officer, Rave Mobile Safety. "Utilizing Smart911, call takers, dispatchers and first responders have immediate access to vital additional caller information on all calls, including mobile, voice over IP and landline calls, enabling more informed responses regardless of the mode of the inbound communication and/or the quality of data available through e911."

Currently, the e911 platform provides callers' phone numbers and best available location data. With the addition of Smart911 software, PSAPs will also receive critical care data about the caller. For example, should an elderly, distressed woman with Alzheimer's call 9-1-1 and be unable to communicate her name, emergency contacts, medical history, etc., this information would immediately be available to the dispatcher for routing to emergency responders .

"Rave Mobile Safety is delivering today what the promise of NextGen 911 holds," said Walt Magnussen, Director for Telecommunications at Texas A&M University and Director of the Internet2 Technology Evaluation Center (ITEC) and Co-Principle Investigator of the USDoT NG911 testbed initiative. "When the citizens are using IP and mobile devices at a greater rate than landlines, it is essential that solutions like Smart911, which deliver critical supplemental data, are utilized by Public Safety organizations."

Each citizen registers online to provide their information via the secure Smart911 website at http://www.Smart911.com. All data is kept completely confidential and protected by the latest in security technologies, and only made available to police, EMS, or fire personnel in the event the subscriber calls 911.

Smart911 also provides enhanced location-based services to the PSAP and first responders in the field. "The Smart911 technology can monitor and update the location of select mobile phones even after a call is dropped, providing a 'bread-crumbing' effect," continued Axbey.

Smart911 has already been deployed at select 9-1-1 centers, including San Ramon Valley Fire in California. Dispatchers and first responders find the system user-friendly and effective. "Now that we've deployed Smart911, we expect it will improve the effectiveness of our call takers and first responders by instantly providing new and vital caller data," said Richard Price, Fire Chief, San Ramon Valley, CA. "As an example, I'm personally comforted that Smart911 provides the ability to associate secondary contact information with my home address, enabling call takers to contact me at work if there is an emergency response to my home - or to my parents' home."

Smart911 is rapidly implemented and requires no change to existing call handling or work flow procedures. It works across all different Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) work stations. It is supported by a 24x7 helpline and Rave's reputation for best-in-class performance, reliability and customer support.

Smart911 is built on the award-winning Rave Guardian platform that has been protecting students for years across numerous college campuses nationwide.
