This poignant book shares a mother's struggle to raise her five children with love and security in spite of her abusive husband

Memories, a new book by Toni Monti, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

The love and commitment of a mother to her children--that's what these inspiring "memories" are all about. Like her widowed mother before her, Toni Monti successfully raised her five children with love and security, despite her unloving and abusive husband and her own substantial health problems. After her first husband was killed in World War II, Toni married a man who affirmed his manhood in two basic ways: getting drunk and beating her up, and leaving her with more and more babies to raise without help. This is her story.

A New Yorker born and bred, Toni Monti grew up in a part of Manhattan known as Little Italy. Today, in a well-earned retirement, she lives in Florida. She is particularly interested in sewing for pleasure and in "professional" singing and dancing. Her children have all survived their tumultuous childhood because of her boundless love and attention.

"Instead of going to a shrink," says Toni Monti, "I did my own therapy by writing this book."

Memories is a 84-page paperback with a retail price of $19.95. The ISBN is 978-1-4349-0099-9. It was published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. For more information or to request a review copy, please visit our virtual pressroom at or our online bookstore at
