Residents of Parc's Atlanta retirement communities competed against morning television anchors in a Wii Bowling competition.

The Wii games offer more than competition. They are a great way to exercise and stay active -- physically, intellectually, and socially. You are exercising without even realizing it, whether you are standing or sitting

Members of Parc Communities' Wii Bowling team were featured on CBS's "Better Mornings Atlanta" on November 13. Parc at Duluth resident Beulah Brown joined forces with Parc at Piedmont residents Constance Gould, Carolyn Finn and Doris Smookler. Parc's Corporate Wellness Director Angela Butler-Hackett and Parc at Duluth's Assistant Club Director Heidi Adams were also on hand to represent Parc Communities. CBS television anchors Tracye Hutchins and Jennifer Valdez competed against the Parc team, and the residents faired quite well against the anchors. The residents also reveled in their television debut and enjoyed seeing what happens behind the scenes on television morning shows.

The Wii Bowling tournament is taking place now in senior adult communities and senior centers across the country. Parc Communities is represented with four teams in these tournaments.

Parc Communities began incorporating the Wii Games into their weekly activities in January of this year. "The Wii games offer more than competition. They are a great way to exercise and stay active -- physically, intellectually, and socially. You are exercising without even realizing it, whether you are standing or sitting", states Angela Butler-Hackett, Parc Communities corporate wellness director. "We have new teams forming at our communities that are being fueled by the excitement surrounding these tournaments. The Wii is definitely a hit with Parc," Butler-Hackett added.
