Unfortunately, unemployment rates were at an all time high in October of 2009, and thousands of taxpayers receiving a bill from the IRS cannot fathom the idea of paying off a huge tax debt.
North Highlands, CA (PRWEB) December 4, 2009
In October of 2009, The Tax Lady Roni Deutch and her law firm negotiated with the IRS to end collections against a group of taxpayers who owed the IRS over $4.6 million in unpaid back taxes.
In October, the attorneys of Roni Deutch, A Professional Tax Corporation were able to end IRS collections against a group of taxpayers owing over $4.6 million in aggregate to the IRS. On average, each taxpayer owed the IRS approximately $43,000. The firm was able to provide relief to their clients through placement in the IRS's Currently Not Collectible (CNC) status. CNC protects a taxpayer from IRS collections by demonstrating that the taxpayer's allowable monthly expenses exceed his or her gross monthly income.
"In October, the IRS always increases their collection efforts," explains Ms. Deutch. "Unfortunately, unemployment rates were at an all time high in October of 2009, and thousands of taxpayers receiving a bill from the IRS cannot fathom the idea of paying off a huge tax debt."
Placement into CNC status is a designation the IRS uses to indicate that it cannot collect from a particular taxpayer at that time. To qualify for the program, a taxpayer must have filed all necessary tax returns and must not have the ability to pay their tax liability in full or through a monthly payment. To determine whether a taxpayer can pay in full or through monthly payments, the IRS reviews the taxpayer's monthly income and expenses, as well as the value of his or her assets. Typically, the IRS places a taxpayer's collection account into CNC status only after determining that the taxpayer cannot pay his or her back tax liability in full or does not qualify for a monthly payment plan because his or her income is exceeded by his or her expenses.
