Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) December 8, 2009
Buffalo personal injury law firm Cellino & Barnes has presented the University at Buffalo School of Law with a $1 million unrestricted donation. In response, UB Law Philanthropy selected firm attorneys Ross Cellino and Steve Barnes for a cover story in the magazine's Fall 2009 issue. According to the article, the $1 million gift from Buffalo lawyers Cellino and Barnes is one of the largest cash gifts the law school has ever received.
The Buffalo law partners explained that they wanted their gift to support the educational vision that UB School of Law Dean Makau Mutua has shown for their alma mater. Both Ross Cellino and Steve Barnes were impressed with Dean Mutua's plan to propel UB Law School into the ranks of the top 50 law schools in the country within the next four years, the article said. "We made this gift unrestricted because we thought it would help Dean Mutua take the school to the next level," lawyer Cellino said.
In announcing that it will rename the school's main conference room as the Cellino & Barnes Conference Center, the UB Council described Cellino and Barnes as "highly accomplished, successful civic-minded attorneys." According to the article, the law school plans to invest the million-dollar gift in student scholarships, teaching technologies and improved student services. "This donation is an important investment in our community," attorney Barnes said. "We help people in New York protect their rights in personal injury cases every day," he explained. "With this gift, we are helping provide the resources to build the next generation of New York lawyers."
