The Tunica Convention and Visitors Bureau has launched the “comp closet,” a new program designed to reward their social networking members.

Tunica, approximately 20 miles from Memphis, Tenn., is home to nine casinos, as well as resorts, nightclubs, golf, tennis, museums and more. The Tunica CVB recently developed a new Facebook Fan page along with a custom Facebook application designed to encourage user-generated content about traveling to Tunica. The “comp closet” is the newest addition and perhaps their most creative use of social networking to date.

Those who frequent casino towns are familiar with being offered comps such as free rooms, free buffets and free admission to select events. Comps are often associated with having a player rewards card membership from a particular casino. The “comp closet” is an inventive way to reward Facebook fans and Twitter followers by giving away comps from a Tunica casino or other attraction in Tunica.

The Tunica CVB will give a comp to a random friend and follower each week through its “fan / follower of the week” program. In addition, fans and followers are offered comps through contests, such as trivia, and for submitting content to the page, including stories, photos and video. Winners will be rewarded with an item from the comp closet, such as:

Hotel room stays
Gift certificates for buffets and fine dining
Golf, tennis and sporting clay play
Museum passes
Tunica swag
Concert tickets
VIP passes

In the last month, Tunica Facebook and Twitter members have more than doubled, with new members joining daily.
