Animaticmedia, a Fort Lauderdale-based animation studio, is currently competing for a chance to create the next series of Mountain Dew TV ads. The agency submitted a 12-second video, “Dewnation”, which is currently one of the front-runners in the online competition. To spread the word and increase votes, Animaticmedia has announced an in-house contest for its Twitter followers that will give one Twitter user the ability to have his likeness featured in the final TV spot if Animaticmedia is chosen as a finalist.
If Animaticmedia’s “Dewnation” is selected as one of the six finalists, it will feature the likeness of the Twitter follower with the most @mentions and links to the contest page between December 8 and December 14, 2009. From now until December 14, Animaticmedia will be monitoring all tweets and retweets on Twitter that both link to the contest and encourage fellow Twitter users to vote.
Voting for the DEWmocracy contest began on December 1 and will continue through 11:59 PM ET on December 13, when six finalists will be chosen. On December 14, three winners will receive a production budget and will work with DEW fans and the DEW Brand team to produce the DEWmocracy ads, which will air in the spring of 2010.
